Re: Issa Diop
He's still young, IMO he needs to work on his strength and first touch, once he gets running with the ball as shown in the Leeds game he can be quite effective bringing the ball out of the defence.

He reminds me a little of Rio Ferdinand by the way he steps out of the defence with the ball.

Re: Issa Diop
Well he's definitely not slow, he is our quickest CB by a country mile. Good at a 1-on-1 tackle. I think the areas of improvement are when the crosses come in, he needs to get tighter to the striker and attack the cross more. I think that will come with experience though.

Re: Issa Diop
Like him, but still guaranteed one brain fart per game, usually during crosses.

hopefully, by playing more this can be addressed.

Re: Issa Diop
Like him, great squad player and certainly one or two of the so called 'top six' have shown interest so must have something.

Re: Issa Diop
I wish he'd add some aggression to his game.
Contrast his movement and forcefulness to Dawson and Soucek at our corners.

Re: Issa Diop
I like him, there is alot of talent in there

He is big, strong and alot of pace.....his biggest weakpoint is concentration and switches off and loses his marker at times

But if we get europe id play him in that, or let him compete with Oggy and Dawson.......in a few years he could develop into one of the best CB's outside the big clubs

Re: Issa Diop
I like Diop. Not as a first choice obviously but as a squad player, then perfectly fine.

Re: Issa Diop
Since he's been back in the first team he's shown a vast improvement from the dark days of Pellegrini. He seems to have rediscovered his mojo. Still not the finished article by any means but the signs are encouraging imo.

he fis our squad just fine

Re: Issa Diop
The thing for me is that he's only 24 and is likely 5-10 years away from his peak as a central defender. He's probably got huge potential, especially if he starts playing the way he did when he first arrived when people were calling him a beast and worrying that a bigger club would come in for him.

Like a lot of players, though, he lost his way under Pellers. But all our defenders beside Coufal have been written off as not good enough in the past. They've all improved under Moyes and I don't see why Diop wouldn't too.

Re: Issa Diop
If ha was excellent last night then we are in real shit if he reverts back to average. How many times did he lose Bamford?

Luckily no one asked your advice.

Re: Issa Diop
Think have made it known many times am not his biggest fan.

His biggest weakness is his lack of strength. He gets pushed off the ball and struggles with defending corners against physical strikers.

If Bamford could shoot ; Diop would have cost us two goals.

He has pace but anything else?

Re: Issa Diop
My first advice is, if you can only see highlights, then dont make up you mind about players. You dont know enough. Diop has actually been excellent the last couple of games, he is an excellent athlete who looked a lot better defensively BUT he is still limited, he looks very poor with the ball at his feet and still prone to a laps of judgement.

Has all the attributes to become a decent player but time will tell.

Re: Issa Diop
His reading of the game and positioning is poor. Not saying he’s shit, but I’d rather Balbuena start%

Re: Issa Diop
Can anyone let me know his strengths?

It’s certainly not passing, positioning or tackling.

Vexed 8:49 Tue Mar 9
Re: Issa Diop
Been mostly decent since getting back into the side. Ogbonna will be back in the side when fit and rightly so bit he's prone to a mistake when he's been out of the side too. Dawson is the surprise, been brilliant. Poor old Balbuena not done much wrong and way down the pecking order.

Re: Issa Diop
As said you need a range of centre halves esp if we are going to play a back 3 at times.
Was reading some social media 'story' saying they are impressed with the boy ALVES and that he could also feature next season

Kaiser Zoso 8:46 Tue Mar 9
Re: Issa Diop
You wanna tell Moyes that because he picks a freebie from relegated Watford before Diop.

Re: Issa Diop
Good player, plenty of potential and the right age. You need players with different skillsets because guess what, they are up against strikers with different skill sets. People who think he's rubbish and should be sold frankly can't tell a player when they see one.

LeroysBoots 8:34 Tue Mar 9
Re: Issa Diop
Ogbonna walks straight back in

Re: Issa Diop
I think he’s been great. Even yesterday running out with the ball. But we can’t please everyone
